Working Experience

Hi guys,

How is life going on? I’m ok here. By the way I’ve started work as a receptionist cum administrator in one of an upcoming company here in Singapore. I don’t want to disclose name of the company because the job is temporary only. I’ve accept it even it’s a one month job. I feel like I need some experience around hectic job environment in Singapore.

I was interviewed by four staff. The fired me with a lot of questions. I was so nerveous first but manage a bit later. Then they test my ability by replying a email. To tell you the truth I was so slow due by my nervousness. That’s why they gave me temporary job I think. We Malaysians really have problems when coming to speak proper English. I was hurt when they said “You are a bit slow. We only can hire you as a part timer. Is that okay with you?” I was hurt but grateful too because they been honest to me. I accept the job so I can prove to them that I’m not slow.

My first day at job was yesterday (Wednesday). I’ve had a difficult first day. They not teach you one by one as in Malaysia. Everything you just need to figure it out yourself. The girl who gonna leave for the school after working as part-timer taught me the procedures. They asked me to do filling. How am I suppose to know what to put where. I was so confused. Then I have to answer the phone calls. My phone etiquette sucks. Luckily there’s a staff taught me the proper way to handle calls. We couldn’t use the word “can” when answering, must use “may I”. I’ve used to “can I” and it’s very difficult to get the word out of my system. Sigh. When you are busy doing other thing, they will call you via other line and test your way of speaking.

Even they are a bit harsh and demanding still I like them coz they are straight forward, honest, kind (even they don’t show it). Hopefully I can manage the rest of the days without problems. I will update my working experiences whenever I have time.

Take care. Babai. Selamat Hari Raya kepada semua kawan2 saya kat Malaysia.

Ramblings

Hi friends. I want to share my life’s daily routine in Singapore. I must warn you first, this is quiet boring entry. I will wake up at ten in the morning (the time varies depend on the time I slept the previous night). Then I will make a cup of tea using Boh 3 in 1 sachet. It tastes okay if anybody wants to try it. I will eat 2 slices of bread or biscuits. I will chat with the aunty (landlord) while having my so called breakfast. I quiet enjoy this time because it feel nice to chat with a caring elderly person. We will share our life stories. The aunty will force me to eat her cooking. Most of the times I’ll declined. Sometimes I accept the curry only and will eat with bread. Her curry is really delicious.

I will apply jobs via net while surfing. Will play word games in the Facebook if feel boring. I have attended two face to face interview and one phone interview. I still not yet get a job. Sigh. I have registered with 5 recruitment centers. Hopefully I will find a suitable job. Okay back to my routine, after surfing I will get ready and will walk to the bus stop. Then will take bus to Jurong East Library. I will spend most of the time there. My lunch will be yong tau fu with meehun or fishball minced meat noodle. Around 4.30 I will take bus to Vivo. If I have mood I will buy lottery :) Who knows one day I may strike a million. Then I will buy a milo in mcd and will sit and surf with laptop while waiting for hubby. After that we will have dinner and a walk around vivo. Then will take bus and go home.

These are my daily routines. If I have anything better to share I will make an entry. Until then bye from Arputha.

Take Care. Babai.
